Cooking components for compote

Before you start preparing an unusual compote, pay attention to the choice of pumpkin. After all, it is the main component, and the quality of the whole dish as a whole depends on its taste.

Several recommendations for choosing:

  1. Use nutmeg varieties if you have a choice. These varieties will add an exquisite taste to the compote.
  2. If this is not possible, take fruits of dessert species with a bright color and a pleasant pulp taste.
  3. Choose a small pumpkin. It is sweeter, its peel is softer and it is more convenient to work with small fruit.
  4. If you buy a vegetable from the market, then do not take the cut fruits. For hygiene purposes, of course.
  5. Take oranges fresh, bright, with a dense skin. Dented are not suitable for an unusual compote.
  6. The cooking water must be purified (structured). The taste and quality of the compote depends on this. With low-quality water, even the most excellent pumpkin with orange will not be able to make the compote taste good.

How much of each product do you need to make a drink?

  • oranges - 3 pieces;
  • sugar - 1 glass;
  • purified water - 2 liters.

First, let's prepare the pumpkin. If the fruit is large, cut it into 2 or 4 pieces, then peel the pumpkin rind and remove the seeds. They are very useful, so don't throw them away. Seeds are not suitable for a drink, so it is better to rinse and dry them.

Cut the vegetable into strips first, then into cubes.

Fold into a container for cooking compote, pour over the syrup.

Stir well and place on the stove. Cook for 15 minutes at a low boil. To prepare the syrup, stir the water with sugar and boil for 5 minutes.

While the pumpkin is boiling, prepare the oranges. The fruit must be washed well. Peel one orange, squeeze the juice, remove the zest, add 3 tablespoons of sugar to it and grind thoroughly. Use a fine grater to remove the zest.

Warning! It is important that the white part of the peel does not get in, it adds bitterness.

Peel the remaining two oranges, cut (cut into slices), then cut the flesh into slices.

Add the orange slices to the boiled pumpkin, stir and cook together for another 5 minutes.

The next step is to add juice and boil for 3 minutes.

Test the drink for sweetness. If you like sugary drinks, you can add sugar in excess of the norm specified in the recipe.

Pre-wash and sterilize glass rolling jars, pour the boiling syrup and close with sterilized lids. Harvesting pumpkin with orange for the winter table is ready. The same recipe is perfect for a summer version on a hot day in the country.
