Grapes have been cultivated since ancient times. This plant is famous not only for its taste, but also for the possibility of creating decorative structures in the garden. Grape fruits are an excellent raw material for compotes, juices, wine, not to mention the use of fresh berries. Grapes are widely used in cosmetology and medicine.
As a rule, the place for the vine in the garden is chosen next to the wall of the house or around the gazebos. You can use grapes to divide the territory into zones by making arches and pergolas. Arched grapes (look at the photo), just such a variety, with which you can create various architectural forms to decorate the garden.
A bit of history
The Arochny variety is a hybrid of Russian selection. The authors are scientists of the Russian VNIIViV them. ME AND. Potapenko. In some sources, Archny has other names: III-14-1-1, Friendship pink or Tsvetnoy. For crossing, according to known information, the grape varieties Intervitis Magaracha and white-berry Druzhba were chosen.
Botanical properties
The vine of the Arochny grape variety is vigorous, with good care it reaches three meters. The variety is early maturing, frost-resistant. The grapes reproduce well by cuttings. Having planted a vine, you can get the first harvest in the second year.

Description of fruits

Arochny's bunches are large, with medium-sized berries, their weight reaches 400-600 grams. They have a standard cylindrical-conical shape. The grapes are almost the same size, there are no peas on dense clusters.
- The berries are 18x25 mm in size and weigh about 6 grams. The form is oval-nipple. The color of the berries is interesting, flowing from pink to red. Particularly bright, as gardeners write in the reviews, are the fruits of Arochny grapes growing on the sunny side.
- The pulp is juicy, tasty and aromatic. Tasters give the Arochny variety 7.7 out of 10 points.
- But not everyone likes the dense skin and a large number of seeds of this grape variety.
- There is enough sugar in berries - 16-18%, acid about 5 g / l.

Growing features
Grapes are a thermophilic plant, but more and more vines are grown in more severe climatic conditions. And judging by the reviews, it is quite successful. So that the vineyards do not die, you need to know how to plant it correctly, choose the soil, take care of them.
Cooking the pit
Arochny grapes require sandy and sandy loam soils when planting. The root system of grapes goes to a great depth, so when choosing a place, you need to take into account the height of the groundwater to the horizon. The close location of the water has a detrimental effect on the development of the vine. The Arochny variety feels good on the sunny side, namely in the southwest or southeast.
The size of the seat for the Arched grapes is one meter by one meter.
A few days before planting the grapes, drainage is laid in the pit. You can use pieces of brick, expanded clay or crushed stone. Pour the nutrient mixture on top: sand, peat and humus in equal amounts.
Sprinkle each layer with mineral fertilizers, such as:
- potassium superphosphate - 100-200 grams;
- ammonium nitrate - about 30 grams;
- potassium salt - 100 grams.
Fertilizers should not be poured onto the last layer of soil, otherwise burns will form on the root system. Pour warm water up to two buckets into the pit and let the soil settle a little.
We plant the vine
A grape seedling of the Arochny variety can be with an open or closed root system. Preparation and planting will be slightly different:
- A vine with an open root system is soaked for two hours to awaken the roots and saturate them with moisture. It is best to carry out this procedure in a heteroauxin solution.
- In the central part of the pit, a hill is made of soil about 15 cm high, on which a bush of grapes "sits", like on a chair. The roots are neatly straightened out. Make sure the roots are pointing straight down!
- It is easier to plant Arochny grape seedlings with a closed root system, you just need to make a deepening of the desired size in the center of the pit.
- After planting, the plants are watered abundantly. Then mulching is carried out to retain moisture.
- Subsequent watering of the grapes is carried out weekly, pouring from 10 to 20 liters of water under the bush. This procedure stops in August so that the plant is prepared for wintering.

Forming and pruning vines
One of the characteristics of the Arochny grape variety is its strong growth. Therefore, it must be properly formed. Otherwise, the branches will be strongly thickened, you will not have to wait for the harvest.
The vine planted in the first year is not touched, the first pruning is planned for next spring. Two lashes are left on the plant, which are cut in different ways:
- the first is a fruit link, from 5 to 8 buds are left on it;
- the second branch is called the replacement knot. It is cut into two buds.
In the third spring, a replacement knot is already cut off the Arochny grape vine. The work is carried out by analogy: on one branch there are 5-8 buds, and on the other, a replacement knot with two buds is again formed. The next year, a fruiting twig forms on it again.
Pruning grapes in the fall is also necessary: after collecting the brushes, the vine is cut into a stump. Berries, if the vine is formed incorrectly, the old branches are not cut out, they become small and tasteless.
Wintering
As already mentioned, the Arochny grape vine is frost-resistant. But in the first years of life, more often in the southern regions, not to mention the zones of risky farming, the vine needs to be covered for the winter.
It is carefully removed from the supports, laid on the ground. You can cover with agrospan or spunbond. These covering materials not only pass oxygen to the vine bushes, but also create favorable conditions for wintering.
In northern latitudes, the plant requires careful shelter. Spruce branches are thrown on top, and even sprinkled with soil.
