Cucumbers in a polycarbonate greenhouse, feeding and care

Caring for cucumbers in a polycarbonate greenhouse does not require special knowledge and skills from the gardener. This version of the greenhouse is the most suitable for solving the problems of growing plants. The construction will allow you to get a high yield of cucumbers due to its design and optimal temperature conditions. The vegetable belongs to heat-loving plants, it does not like a sharp drop in temperature. Polycarbonate perfectly retains heat both during the day and at night.

How cucumbers are watered and tied

After 3-4 leaves appear on the plant, it is transplanted into a greenhouse. From this point on, it is necessary to carefully look after the fruits. Cucumber absorbs a lot of moisture, therefore it requires proper and regular watering.

The main rule to remember is to use water at room temperature. Cold water negatively affects the growth and development of the plant. All processes slow down.

With systematic improper watering, various diseases can spread on the leaves. Water should not come into contact with the top of the plant. Watering is carried out strictly at the root. Otherwise, the spread of diseases is guaranteed. To get a high yield, it is necessary to maintain the appropriate humidity in a polycarbonate greenhouse - no more than 90%. This will require up to 5 liters of water for each bush.

The peculiarity of the structure of the plant prompted a person how best to tie up cucumbers.

Gardeners are advised to install trellises designed specifically for these purposes. They allow you to grow fruits in an upright position.

More space remains in the greenhouse and the plant develops better. Sometimes it reaches 2 m in height. The design of the trellises can be different. Their main task is to create a support for cucumbers and facilitate harvesting. Also, an important factor is the maintenance of the integrity of the plant during care. If the fruits ripen on the ground, they are inconvenient to pick and water.

The importance of weeding and feeding

Any living organism must breathe. Cucumbers are no exception. The greenhouse owner is obliged to regularly weed the plant and loosen the soil. However, this must be done very carefully, because the roots of cucumbers are quite fragile and vulnerable. Any wrong move - and part of the bush with color and young shoots is broken. Do not forget about the systematic ventilation of a polycarbonate greenhouse. In warm or hot weather, its vents should be left open for a day.

The plant constantly needs nutrients that would give it the strength to grow and produce healthy fruits. Feed cucumbers necessary at least 5 times a season. An indispensable component of their diet is organic materials:

  • manure;
  • compost;
  • ash.

Without them, cucumbers can go into barren flowers. Fertilizer is added to water in a ratio of 1 liter of organic matter and 10 liters of water. If you do not observe the proportions, you can harm the plant. For example, the leaves begin to turn yellow from a large amount of vitamins. In the first days of planting, it is desirable to introduce nitrogen compounds into the ground. Such fertilizers include phosphorus. Nitrogen-potassium substances are added during fruiting. Sometimes gardeners use minerals. 5 g of nitrate, 5 g of potassium salt and 10 g of superphosphate are mixed in a bucket with water. All fertilizers are applied only at the root.

How to deal with pests and diseases of cucumbers

Cultivated plants should be looked after carefully, systematically checking the condition of their leaves, developing fruits, flowers.Otherwise, you may not notice dangerous infections, among which the most dangerous are:

  • root rot;
  • powdery mildew;
  • gray rot;
  • brown spot.

The most common disease is powdery mildew. If a white bloom is visible on the leaves, it means that the plant has become infected.

Attention!To save cucumbers, you need to take 1 kg of manure, 1 tbsp. urea and dissolve them in a bucket. Spray the entire surface of the plant in the morning.

No less dangerous is the defeat of cucumbers by root rot.

The reasons for its occurrence are characterized by temperature changes in the greenhouse, irrigation with cold water, planting seedlings every year in the same soil.

Determining the presence of a disease is very simple. On the stem are noticeable:

  • cracking;
  • rot;
  • color change from natural green to yellow.

To combat the disease, 1 tsp is diluted in 0.5 liters of water. copper sulfate, copper oxychloride, 3 tbsp. chalk or lime. The resulting mixture is applied to damaged areas.

Gray rot occurs on the leaves and stems of cucumbers. Basically, infection occurs due to improper ventilation of the greenhouse, cold watering. To get rid of the disease, it should be mixed with 1 tsp. copper sulfate 1 glass of ash.

It is important to remember that after processing, all infected shoots must be removed and burned. If brown spot is found on the plant, which manifests itself as reddish formations with liquid, it is necessary to immediately stop watering for 5 days. At this time, a quick resuscitation of the borage is carried out. Otherwise, he will die. Add 30 g to a bucket of water foundazola or Bordeaux substance.

In addition to diseases, insects can harm plants.

One of them is the greenhouse whitefly. Sitting on leaves, it secretes a substance that allows harmful sooty fungi to develop.

To prevent the appearance of whitefly, it should be removed in time weed, properly water, install special glue traps for insects. Only careful care and attention of the gardener will bring a good harvest.

Timely and correct prevention of diseases, the appearance of pests will increase its quality and duration of fruiting.
