Cucumber Crane f1

Cucumber Zhuravlenok was created by breeders on the basis of the Crimean agricultural experimental station. In the 90s, a downy mildew epidemic destroyed the cucumber crop in all farms in the south of the Soviet Union. A new disease-resistant variety named Phoenix... Further work of breeders developed based on the use of the properties of the Phoenix variety. New varieties were bred on the genetic material of Phoenix.

These include the hybrid variety Crane F1 cucumber. Hybrid means that the seeds are obtained from crossing 2 varieties, received the best qualities from the parents. As a rule, hybrids are more viable, even in lean years you can get a good result from them. The peculiarity of hybrids is that it is impossible to get plant seeds with the same qualities from them. What will grow from seeds from hybrids will not look like parent plants, some will be sterile, that is, they will not bear fruit at all.

Growing

The implementation of simple agrotechnical techniques contributes to obtaining good harvest results.

  • Plant cucumber seeds in unprotected soil in the last days of May - early June. At this time, warm, stable weather sets in, frosts are no longer there;
  • Prepare the covering material and arches, as young plants need additional protection from low night temperatures;
  • Dig up the soil before planting, add compost. Make holes or furrows, water well, and place seeds in them. Sowing depth of seeds 3-4 cm. Planting scheme for the variety Zhuravlenok 50x30 cm;
  • Regular care consists of watering, loosening, removing weeds, top dressing. Cucumbers love light soils. But such soils are usually poor in composition. Therefore, do not neglect feeding.
  • During the season, 5-6 dressings are carried out, alternating the introduction of organic fertilizers (slurry or bird droppings) with mineral dressings. Use organics in a diluted form, 1 part of the infusion of droppings or slurry to 10 parts of water. For mineral dressings, they take a regular (10 liters) bucket of water: urea - 15 g, superphosphate - 50 g, potassium sulfate - 15 g. You can use ready-made complex fertilizers. Follow the manufacturer's instructions;
  • Harvesting of the Zhuravlenok variety begins in July.
Important! Do not stop watering, harvest cucumbers regularly. Overripe cucumbers are no longer so tasty. Moreover, they pull moisture and nutrients onto themselves.

Testimonials

Marina Zvonareva, 47 years old, Nizhny Novgorod region
The Crane variety always gives a good bountiful harvest. Cucumbers are never bitter. Best suited for preservation, I grow other varieties for salads. I plant the seeds under the film on June 5-10, they sprout well and immediately actively start growing. Plants never get sick. For feeding, I use only slurry and then irregularly. Everything is only natural, no chemicals.
Anna Kolesnikova, 59 years old, Smolensk region
I trust hybrids more, among the seeds of cucumbers I definitely buy the variety Zhuravlenok, an old, long-known and reliable variety. I know it will never fail. I never grow seedlings, directly into the ground, and everything grows remarkably. The characteristics of the variety are only positive, nothing negative comes to mind.
