Seed sowing methods

Cucumber seeds "Parisian Gherkin" can be sown directly into the ground or on seedlings. For sowing directly into the ground, glazed seeds are recommended, which in production have been treated with disinfecting agents and growth activators. Their germination rate is close to 100% and the onset of the fruiting period will not be delayed. In this case, the manufacturer has established the recommended terms for sowing the seed into the ground:

  • the first week of May is perfect for sowing seed in a greenhouse;
  • on beds with temporary polyethylene shelter, seeds should be sown in mid-May;
  • for sowing on open beds, the last week of May is best suited.
Important! The times given are for the Central Region and may vary depending on weather conditions.

In the absence of industrial seed treatment, it is preferable to germinate and sow seedlings at home. You can pre-disinfect cucumber seeds by soaking in a weak saline or manganese solution. When sowing, full-weight, filled seeds are used.

The seedling growth process can be accelerated by germinating the seed. For this, the seeds are placed in a moist, warm (270C) Wednesday. The hatched seeds are embedded in the nutrient soil, which is in special containers. The dimensions of the container must be at least 8 cm in diameter. This will allow the plant's root system to develop fully. It is imperative to provide drainage holes in containers.

Growing cucumber seedlings should be placed in a lighted area. The optimal temperature for its growth is 220C. When 2-3 cucumber leaves appear, the seedlings can be dived into the ground.

In order for the leaves and ovaries to receive the required amount of light during the growth process, it is necessary to adhere to the scheme when sowing the plant in the ground: no more than 4 bushes per 1 m2 land. In a greenhouse, the number of plants per 1 m2 should not exceed 3 bushes. Cucumber bushes of the Parisian Gherkin variety need a garter. The plant is quite unpretentious, it only needs regular watering and feeding. It is recommended to feed the cucumbers of the Parisian Gherkin variety twice before the onset of the fruiting period.

Advice! To prepare fertilizer for 5 liters of water, it is necessary to add superphosphate, sulfate and urea (half a tablespoon of each component). This amount of solution is sufficient to irrigate 1 m2 of land.

Testimonials

Valentin Ostapenko, 56 years old, Yaroslavl
I have been working on the garden for a long time and, of course, I grow various vegetables on the ground, including cucumbers. Several years ago I tried the Parisian Gherkin variety. I do not like large overripe cucumbers, so this variety pleased me: vegetables do not overripe, even if they are picked late. Delicious, crispy cucumbers delight the whole family, especially grandchildren, who really enjoy the sweet little gherkin.
